Set up VoIP.ms in Reachable
WorksVoIP.ms is a VoIP provider in the United States and Canada. This is how you add your VoIP.ms account to Reachable, so your phone rings, even with the app closed.
- You enter: SIP user name, SIP password and server.
- The password: the SIP password of the account or sub-account, not necessarily your website password.
- One device per account at a time.
- Voicemail: call *97.
What to enter
From version 1.1 VoIP.ms is in the app's list. Pick VoIP.ms and fill this in; the app fills in the other settings itself.
Where to find your details
- Log in at voip.ms.
- Your main account (6 digits) is in your account details; you change the SIP password under Main Menu > Account Settings, Security tab.
- Create a sub-account under Sub Accounts > Create Sub Account, where you choose its name and password.
- Your number (DID Numbers) shows which server it points to; enter that server here.
Right now: with Other SIP provider
In version 1.0 VoIP.ms is not in the list yet. Choose Other SIP provider and fill this in. The fields marked (optional) are under Advanced.
| Field in the app | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Username | exactly as in your portal, for example 100000_phone |
| Password | your SIP password (see above) |
| Server or domain | the address from your portal, for example newyork1.voip.ms |
| Transport | UDP |
| Port (optional) | leave empty |
| Outbound proxy (optional) | leave empty |
| Separate login name (optional) | leave empty |
| Voicemail number (optional) | *97 |
Encrypted calls
VoIP.ms can encrypt your calls. Under Advanced choose Transport TLS, port 5061 and switch on Encrypt the sound (SRTP). On iPhone a lock then shows during the call.
Good to know
- One device at a time. VoIP.ms lets only one device sign in per account at a time. If you also use this account on a desk phone or in another app, they keep taking it over from each other. Then give Reachable an account of its own. Reachable on two phones counts as one device: only our server signs in at VoIP.ms.
- Give Reachable a sub-account of its own: VoIP.ms advises against putting two devices on the same user name.
- Choose the same server your number points to (under DID Numbers), for example newyork1.voip.ms. If they differ, calls do not come in.
- Is IP Restriction or POP Restriction on for your (sub-)account? Then add our server's addresses (2.28.204.233 and 167.233.187.96) or switch the restriction off.
- For encrypted calls also switch on Encrypted SIP Traffic for the sub-account and pick a numbered server such as chicago1.voip.ms. After that only TLS with SRTP works.
